Interview: Ben Acree

I am currently in Ube, Japan, which is rural, industrial, and on the southern tip of the main island. I am headed back home to the United States in three weeks. I am not a professional photographer, but pinning it as a hobby seems somehow incorrect. Listening to records is certainly a hobby though.
What equipment do you use?
I have two Contax 35mm cameras (T2 and G1) and an old Rolleiflex. I usually shoot with Kodak Portra.
What is the source of your inspiration?
I am not sure if I could nail down one source of inspiration. All of my friends take better pictures than I do, and that keeps me inspired in a strange way. Also just looking at tons of pictures and learning about the mechanics of photography always gets me looking at things differently.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
Honestly, maybe Tennessee.
What book changed your life?
Gravity’s Rainbow
